In cold night air
Stars fell down like crackers
White flowers
On green curved stems, leggy and slim. Black patent shoes
dancing on crumbs crunched like ice
chewed on a hot day
swinging, looping down long, up breathless
on a creaking rope
over willow-edged water
Joy jumped up
and flew out when I opened my mouth
and made itself known to me.
